This Month I Waived the Consultation Fee

Exotic Dancer with books

As a criminal defense attorney, I often get asked why I waive the consultation fee for adult entertainers in need of legal help. People can be judgmental and they sometimes look down on those who choose to work in the adult entertainment industry. But I believe that everyone deserves access to justice, no matter what their profession is or what kind of trouble they might find themselves in. That’s why I took a stand and waived the consultation fee for exotic dancers, even if not everyone agrees with it. Here’s why.

Stereotypes of Adult Entertainers

First, it's important to understand why people are so upset by my decision to waive the consultation fee for adult entertainers, exotic dancers, bartenders, and sex workers. It's usually because of stereotypes - people assume that anyone who works in this industry must be a criminal or up to no good. But this is simply not true. Some are survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking - something that we should all take into consideration when judging someone based on their profession alone.

The people that choose this way of life may do so because it gives them the freedom and flexibility to make money on their own terms. Websites like OnlyFans has made it possible and safer for people to work in the sex industry without violating laws against prostitution.

It's also important to note that my decision to waive the consultation fee for adult entertainers has nothing to do with whether or not they are actually guilty of any crime - it simply means that they will have access to legal consultation at no cost if they need it. This is important because it ensures that everyone has access to justice regardless of their financial circumstances or chosen profession. I doubt anyone would bat an eye I said I was waiving the consultation fee for first responders such as police officers, firefighters, EMTs, veterans, etc., by the way, veterans do receive a discount, too.

Finally, I think it's important to point out that waiving the fee doesn't mean giving away free services - my clients still have to pay me if they want me to represent them. What waiving the consultation fee does mean is removing financial barriers so that everyone has access to quality legal advice regardless of their income level or occupation.
