Evansville Police Claim Man Hid Gun in His Butt

Gun in the Butt

Evansville, Indiana - When he was booked into jail and subjected to a body scan and strip search, an ex-convict from Indiana, who is not allowed to carry a firearm, had a concealed handgun in his rectum.

On Monday at around two in the morning, police in the city of Evansville pulled over a car carrying Christopher Boyd, 32, as a passenger due to a partially concealed license plate. After being searched by police, the driver and another passenger were freed without being charged.

The Police Report

However, a police report acquired by The Smoking Gun states that during Boyd's pat down, cops found "a small bag with multiple pills" in his right sock. Boyd stated that his "Aunt Trish" had given him the Percocets to cope with the discomfort from a "bullet lodged in his spine."

Boyd also stated that his spinal condition prevented him from spreading his legs throughout the search.

According to the police report, "Boyd tensed up" while they were searching in his groin area.

The report claimed that when the suspect was questioned about whether he had "anything stuffed in his groin or buttocks," "Boyd stated that he did not."

The report stated that Boyd was seen "walking with a limp and appeared to be clenching his buttocks when he walked" after being taken to the county jail. Boyd was then subjected to a body scanner, when a "large object" was found in his crotch area.

Two small packets carrying marijuana were found "tucked next to Boyd's scrotum" during a strip search. Marijuana for recreational use is still prohibited in Indiana.

Boyd subsequently tensed up and refused to comply, and he was lowered to the ground, the document stated. When Boyd's pants were dropped by an officer to extract the object from his rectum, the defendant kept clenching his buttocks. The gun was taken out when the officer "was able to see that the object Boyd had in his rectum was a handgun."

Whether the weapon was loaded is a mystery. It was verified by the police that the gun was not stolen.

The Gun

A.380 caliber Smith & Wesson Bodyguard, roughly five inches long and weighing around 12 ounces, was the weapon concealed in Boyd's rectum. According to the manufacturer's website, the gun is "micro" in frame size, "lightweight, and simple to use," and "perfectly suited for concealed carry."

Boyd has a prior criminal record that includes convictions for domestic abuse, burglary, and attempted murder. According to the report, he has been labeled as a "Serious Violent Felon and Domestic Batterer," which forbids him from owning a firearm, and he is also the target of an active protection order.

Boyd faces numerous felonies related to drug, firearm, and trafficking, according to the police. After being taken into custody, he is being held without bond at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
