Sean “Diddy” Combs Faces Sentencing After Mixed Verdict in Federal Case

Sean's Sentencing Scheduled for October 3, 2025

Sean Combs sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to be sentenced on October 3rd after a federal jury found him guilty of transporting individuals for prostitution—just a week after he was acquitted of much more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

This high-profile case in New York’s Southern District captured a ton of attention. Prosecutors tried to paint a picture of Combs at the center of a criminal network, claiming he orchestrated abuse and elaborate “hotel nights” involving two former partners: Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another woman identified only as “Jane.” Both testified under oath, sharing stories of being pressured into sexual acts with male escorts during their relationships with Combs.

The prosecution argued that Combs’ inner circle—including his personal assistants and bodyguards—arranged travel, hotel stays, and even set the scene with drugs and sex paraphernalia. They pushed hard on a narrative of organized crime under the racketeering statute, but the jury didn’t buy it. Instead, they cleared Combs on conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.

Still, the jury did convict Combs on one count: paying for male escorts to cross state lines for sexual acts with his partners while he watched. It’s serious, but not on the level of trafficking. The potential sentence? Prosecutors say the guidelines suggest 51 to 63 months in prison (that’s over 4 years), though they might push for more. The defense thinks something in the 21 to 27 month range is more reasonable.

Since getting arrested in September 2024, Combs has been held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. The judge has said time already served will count toward whatever sentence is handed down. Combs’ lawyers at first asked to speed up sentencing, but ended up agreeing to the court’s October 3rd date.

Throughout the trial, the defense hammered home their main point: “Domestic violence is not sex trafficking.” That line, from lead attorney Marc Agnifilo, really summed up their approach and helped get Combs acquitted on the toughest accusations.

Last week’s verdict brought an emotional moment in the courtroom. Combs, clearly moved, knelt and thanked the jury for sparing him a possible life sentence. His attorney emphasized it best, telling Combs’ family: “He gets his life back with all of you.” It’s hard to argue with that—at least on the most damning charges.

But despite the wins, the judge turned down a bid to allow Combs out on bail before sentencing, ruling he still posed a possible risk. Outside, Agnifilo said the team’s not giving up yet: “We’re not nearly done fighting,” he told reporters.

So the next few months will play a big role in what’s next for Diddy’s life and career. With sentencing around the corner—and the public fallout still brewing—this story is far from over.
