Throw Stars (Shurikens) Like a Ninja!

Indiana Throwing Star Attorney

Indianapolis- Throwing stars will no longer be prohibited in Indiana as of this summer.

Under Senate Enrolled Act 77, throwing stars will be subject to the same restrictions as other knives-like weapons in Indiana, including a ban on school grounds.

In Indiana, several business owners claim they intend to benefit from the new state law.

The owner of Flying Squirrel Axe Throwing in Speedway, Ryan Gustin, said he gets people coming in every single day and asking him about it.

After Indiana lifts its restriction, Gustin stated that he intends to launch a throwing star league. Throwing stars is offered at axe-throwing businesses in other states where it is legal.

Attorney Mark Nicholson said that businesses may be able to reduce liability, and protect their customers by blunting the edges of the throwing stars. He said, "I hope the sport of throwing stars is now able to grow in Indianapolis."

This session's initial legislation proposal only allowed for leisure companies. Prior to it becoming law, however, House legislators expanded the bill, permitting them in nearly any setting.

The bill's proponent, state senator Linda Rogers (R-Granger), said the final version is satisfactory.

No matter what kind of leisure activity you choose, you should always take safety precautions. These companies will undoubtedly do so, according to Rogers.

The new bill becomes law on July 1, 2023.
