Mark Nicholson to Speak at HOPE's Raise the Roof Breakfast

“I was born in iniquity, raised in chaos, and survived destruction..”

-Mark Nicholson

Hear the hope of Mark Nicholson's inspiring story of achievement through mistakes, defeat, courage, and rising on Tuesday, October 29 at 7:30am at Party Central in Evansville during HOPE's annual Raise the Roof Breakfast. Help us give hope to others.

Mark Nicholson graduated Indiana University McKinney School of Law in 2008. His fellow classmates elected him as their class president and graduation speaker. Nicholson went on to make a name for himself in the local legal community as a People Helper Lawyer, helping people who need quality legal representation for reasonable rates. His resume includes extensive trial experience in felony to misdemeanor cases, family law, and civil litigation.

He has had much success in the court room, but this isn't what sets him apart from the crowd. More interesting than his present, is his past.

Nicholson received his bachelor's degree while serving a 30-year prison sentence, studied and passed the LSAT while living in a homeless shelter, and in 2009 Nicholson received news that he had passed the bar exam. He is believed to be the only lawyer in modern Indiana history admitted to the bar with a major felony conviction.

Why is Indiana criminal defense and personal injury attorney Mark Nicholson called the Battery Man? Because his first criminal jury trial was a battery case. The case was called the Big Buford Battery case. They charged his client with throwing a big Buford sandwich at the manager through the drive-thru window. Then, his client went through the drive-thru window and allegedly battered the manager. It was all captured on video.  The verdict: Not Guilty! His first personal injury case was a car accident. He views car accidents as a form of battery. One car hitting (battering) another, although generally unintentional.
